This is only one of our Many Moab Memories.  Moab is a kind of place that makes memories whether you want them or not.  By definition this Moab Memory is joined at the hip with and dedicated to Randy Fabres who passed on to The Great Story Beyond August 18, 2005. Randy and I were room mates for quite awhile on North Leroux Street in Flagstaff.  Our Life Paths crossed for the first time in 1981 out at the South Rim of Grand Canyon and we went on to stuff together for more than a couple of decades thereafter. La Barge

  La Barge touts itself as a small community nestled in the peaceful Green River Valley and claims to be "Home of The Frontier Trapper".  There's not much going on in La Barge and that's what makes The Moon Dance Diner Story stand out.  The Moon Dance Story begins as a classic "hope springs eternal" small town saga.  The once vibrant Moon Dance dreams fell on hard times and the story faded to a sad ending. It all began sometime in 2007 when lifelong La Barge residents Vince and Cheryl Pierce somehow became smitten with the idea to buy an iconic New York City diner--The Moon Dance.  The couple paid $7,500 to buy the building but then spent thousands more to move it to La Barge.   Then the real spending began and the Pierces ultimately invested around $300,000 in the little diner.  It opened with great local fanfare in late January 2009.  Unfortunately, the age-old business mantra "location, location, location" was not kind to the Moon Dance an...

Cheii art © 2023 by Keith Jim, Rock Point, AZ https://www.facebook.com/KTJ1Comics/ So, she, her family and Navajo Navy veterans camei up with a number of mottos written in Navajo like “Keyah doo iina yich’á indaabah” – “to serve to protect the land and way of life” – and “Tałkaa Silao Tsoh ast’aa yiniił” – “military rescue warrior.” Eventually, they chose Iiná yiich’áá’ nidabaahí bilį’į’, which means “the vessel of the protectors of life.” The crest itself was designed to include an illustration of a na’ashǫ́’ii dich’ízhii, more popularly known as cheii, or horned toad. Cheii is depicted in the middle of a shield with the Navajo motto underneath it.
